Semester 8 Essay- Prompt #36: Elementary and secondary around the country are beginning to actively address the problem of bullies. In your own opinion, is bullying an issue that should be addressed by schools or left to parents? Use specific reasons and examples to support your position?

         Everyday around the nation millions of children wake up everyday to get ready for school, once they have arrived at school they could have either a very fun day or a very miserable day filled with different children laughing or making fun of them. This is only the aspects of bullying for children. Now and days many children are becoming victims of bullying and schools are not doing any thing about the bullying until the child is beaten down. Something that was once a passage to becoming a kid is now a killer amongst many children all around the world because a new way is being used to the bully advantages which is the Internet that is connected to everyone around the world.

         I think that bullying should be dealt with both the school and the parent because it is both the school and parents responsibility to make sure the child does not physically, verbally or cyber bully another person. With different types of bullying becoming better known there should be a major crack down with all children. Bullying could easily lead to some Childs death because they suffer being humiliate at school and do not know how to share it with their parents. In a survey down by the  family first aid  “students in grades 6 to 10, 13 percent reported bullying others, 11 percent reported being the target of school bullies, and another 6 percent said they bullied others and were bullied themselves.” The school should punish the child for picking on bullying other children because they put pressure on the other children for being perfect which no one is perfect and Elementary and younger kids do not know that yet so they try to fit in which could sometimes cause death. And it could also cause the child being afraid to go to school and anxious to whenever they go to school which has them loosing concentration in school ,and also has them not paying attention in school and could lead to bad grades.

      For example if their was child that was overweight that attend a normal seize school of about nine hundred students in the student body. That child could get pick on because that child is overweight and society sees people that are overweight as monsters and not normal people. The person that is doing the bullying is sometimes the person that has been the victim in a bullying incident. This could cause them to bully the person that is overweight and new to the school.  Both the school and parents should work together to make sure the child does not bully any one else. I think both sides should work together because the children spend a lot of time at the school and at home so they are able to pick up any thing negatively at both places. If the child knows that treating people in an evil way is bad they would not do the bullying.

Prompt#31- Across the country, public places such as libraries and museums is now smoke- free environments, and restaurants are required to have separate smoking and non-smoking sections. Some smoke- free advocates are now campaigning to ban smoking in all restaurants and bars. Do you think this is a good idea? Why or why not? Use specific reasons and examples to support your position.

           Smoking and Alcohol are two very bad combinations. The nicotine in the cigarette increases the affect that alcohol has on the user. With smoking and the nicotine that can be found in it, it’s one of the most popular addictive drugs on the U.S market. When you add smoking and drinking together you have to very dangerous and flammable things. When a person drinks they loose part of their motor skills and when a person smokes they are only worried about finishing the cigarette they started.

           “Approximately 20.9% (44.5 million) adults currently smoke. Of these, 81.3% (36.1 million) smoke every day, and 18.7% (8.3 million) smoke some days.” (www.Quiteguide.com) among those who smoke everyday some of those adults go into bars for a drink and once in the bar they take a smoke. When you smoke in a bar that is filled with flammable things you risk the whole place on fire.  You also increase you risk of getting center diseases like cancer.

      Several studies have shown that Alcohol and the consumption of Cigarettes and no physical exercise increasing the chance of death in adults. When you smoke and drink in a bar you several things like if a person leaves their cigarette close to their drink and another customer comes in and accidentally knocks the other person drink they risk a fire in the bar. And for the person that smokes all the time they are very inconsiderate for the person that does not smoke they give the other person second hand smoke, which is also a very horrible. Both smoking and Alcohol when in use can be very dangerous they lower people life skills and increase many deaths in the U.S and other countries.

        Smoking in bars and restaurants should be ban because the air that is in the room of several places affect everyone around the person that is smoking and they can inhale what the person is breathing out. Second hand smoking is becoming more and more unsafe as smoking a cigarette. Second hand smoking is even more dangerous when it is inhaled by a younger person of age like a baby or a young adult.   When you go out to eat and you see a person smoking near you and you don’t really like it you go up to the person ask them if they put out their cigarette. If they decide not put out their cigarette you can always go to the manger and tell them. Also remember that smoking and drinking are very dangerous things to combine because you could just end up burning down a restaurant or even your house. 

Explain the meaning of diversity.

Diversity is the definition of being different from other people. Diversity is something that is like being different from the other person. It could be as simply as of where the person comes from or the way they look. Diversity is the key thing that makes up the country of the U.S. We are country that were founded by immigrants that then went to  becoming the most diverse population, with people search for a new place to make a family and grow as individual.Having diversity in someone community allows the person to stop being ignorant of the rumors of other races such as how they look or even how they approach other people.
Diversity in the work place could be a very good thing because it shows that the employer is a person that does not think only about one thing but about many other thing.

Describe the how communication has changed in the last 20 years.

   Once upon a long long time ago their was no such thing of the Internet , cellphones, t.v or the  radio. Since the beginning of the world humans have always wanted to communicate with each other. Communications has changed year after year from the simply writing of a letter to the fast world of sending a email to someone all the way around the world from where you live. And even now their is something also called a web cam where two people can chat with someone. The introduction of the web can show how much communication has gown. Even with the introduction of the cellphone , when it first came out it use to resemble the size of a regular phone but with any wires. But with new technologies cellphones are now getting as small as a computer mouse.
      They way to communicate with people will and has dramatically over the past twenty years by means quickly allowing the person to talk to another person.We  will soon beginning another new age of technology which will never stop.

Discuss how conveniences change people's lives.

   When people have the ability to have the comfortably to have short cuts in their lives they take things for granted. It could a person life dramatically by having  different types of convinces in their life they becoming the person that does not know the meaning of struggling and knowing how to stretch what little money they have.For example people that have parents who are in the upper class also known as the one percent are very oblivious on how people in the working or lower class make it from day to day. The people who are in the one percent have everything handed down to them with very little effort. They have the convince to to lay back and allow the money to flow in and never know the pain and struggle to and how to work for a dollar. Having different conveniences  for some people who have nothing could change their lives for ever because it allows them to relax instead of stressing out they could have so much fun.

Discuss the causes of and health problems resulting from teenage smoking.

    Smoking is one of the hardest habit to break. It is a very addictive thing because of the nicotine that is in it and other horrible chemicals that is also found in it. Teenagers start smoking for several different reasons one may because they see their family or someone close to them smoke, which makes them want to. Another reason may be because they find it very cool to smoke. Their are several  reasons why its horrible for teenagers to smoke at such a young age because it will affect them later in their adult years and also it make them very addictive which them will stay addicted to until they are died. Some other heath problems that will affect teenagers would be the cause of breathing problems such as asthma. Asthma is something that makes it very harder for the person to breath in certain climates. It is something that usually would stick to the person around until they could mange problem or would temporally go away and then reappear when they are in a tough place for them to breath in.

    When a teenagers starts to smoke they loose  senses  of smell and taste.Smokers can't smell or taste because they are so used to the smell and taste of the nicotine that are in the smokes they use everyday.

Math is a required subject. Explain why is it so important.

Mathematics is used in everything for the day to day activities of everyone around the. Math is very important because it allows people to calculate they do. Also it makes sure they are not taken advantage of when they are doing simply task like tyring to sell things that they grown on their time. Math also allows the brain to take on tough situations and clear and use logical to answer the worlds difficult problems that face everyone. Math is something that is widely used in every job and in other fields.Without math we would never be able to find out  how many people are in each city or town. With the usage of math we are able to do some much things such as clear up a agreement between the amount of square feet each person has and how much taxes they need to pay.
